About Eschenbach and This Policy

Eschenbach Optik of America, Inc. (“Eschenbach,” “we,” or “us”) is the world leader in the manufacture and distribution of high quality magnification solutions including low vision aids, reading glasses and binoculars. Our general business model involves us offering product to our channel partners (i.e., business partners who are typically eye care or vision rehabilitation professionals), and those channel partners then provide our products to consumers.

Even though only limited aspects of our business interacts directly with consumers, there are certain instances where we handle Consumer Health Data, as defined under relevant laws in Connecticut, Nevada and Washington.  As such, this Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy applies only to residents of Connecticut, Nevada and Washington, and it explains how we handle and protect your Consumer Health Data.  Please see our general Privacy Policy for more information about our collection and use of consumer personal information.

The Consumer Health Data We Collect

We collect certain categories of Personal Information that may identify a health condition, treatment, disease or diagnosis (“Consumer Health Data”).  This includes:

  • Health Condition, Disease or Diagnosis, such as low vision.
  • Health Treatment, such as the use of certain vision enhancing devices or an eyeglass prescription.

Sources of Consumer Health Data

We may collect Consumer Health Data from the following sources:

  • Directly from you;
  • Your health care provider; and/or
  • Third parties that refer you to us, such as a home healthcare aide or social worker.

 

The Ways We Use Consumer Health Data

We use the Consumer Health Data that we collect for the following purposes:

  • To provide you with a requested product or service.
  • To respond to your questions and other inquiries.
  • For complying with a legal obligation or to respond to law enforcement requests and as required by applicable law, court order, or governmental regulations;
  • To ensure compliance with applicable law, or manage our everyday business needs such as auditing or administration of our services.

The Ways We Disclose Consumer Health Data

We may disclose the categories of Consumer Health Data listed above to our service providers and vendors, who may use data on our behalf to provide you a requested product or service.

Please note that we do not sell your Consumer Health Data. Likewise, we do not allow third parties to collect Consumer Health Data over time and across different websites when you visit our website.

Prior to honoring your request, we may need to verify your identity. In certain instances, we may deny your request in whole or in part, such as if we cannot verify your identity. If we deny your request, we will explain our reasons.

Appeal. You may have a right to appeal our decision with regard to your request. To do so, please send an email to info@eschenbach.com with the word “Appeal” in the subject line.

Changes to the Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy

We may revise our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post any revised version of the policy on this website.

Continued use of our website following notice of such changes will indicate your acknowledgement of and agreement to the changes.
